I finally started to work with hardwood. These waste baskets were my first real attempt at furniture grade work. And they turned out to be fun to make. They are made in the style of a Mission Limbert design. I will go back and make more of these as I get time. They are nice looking and there is something about putting a lot of time and effort into something that everyone thinks is inconsequential that appeals to me.
This one is made from all cherry with a dark cherry stain.
This waste basket is made of cherry and maple butt glued together. Definitely not Mission but I like the contrast and the figure of the maple. I think one made out of alternating maple and cherry on a diagonal would make a really striking trashcan.
